NORTH AMERICA OPERATIONS MANAGER

Role Purpose:

This challenging position is part of a world-class operations team and will be providing analytic support, process design and improvement, monthly business reviews, and direct interface and direction to outsourcing vendors.  Customer and partner interface is also a component of this position.  This position will play a role in defining need processes to enable ease of use in the financing process. 
 
Team/Department Mission:
 
We believe every customer deserves a financing offer from Microsoft.  To enable this, we rely upon strong relationships with the field and partner communities, as well as internal business groups.  Microsoft Financing is a billion dollar finance company on the fast track to be a multibillion dollar customer financing organization. The North America Operations PM will play an instrumental role in making the continued growth a reality.
 
Key Accountabilities:

  • Process design and implementation
  • Ensure operating routines, procedures and policies are documented and comply with legal and regulatory requirements as well as Microsoft standards for North America
  • Measure business performance and translate the results into actionable recommendations
  • Monitor and manage daily vendor processes
  • Conduct operational audits with vendor base 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient knowledge of processes and ability to manage metrics and productivity
  • Be flexible, action and results oriented, self-starting and comfortable with computer databases and tools.  Be decisive and able to move with speed to implement ideas
  • Must be able to operate successfully in a lean organization and keep scale at the forefront
  • The ideal candidate will bring at least 5-8 years of hands-on business experience
  • Established success managing Key Performance Indicators
  • Demonstrated Project Management skills
  • Strong business and financial analysis skills

Special Requirements/Additional Information:

  • 5-8 years experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred

We are seeking a global risk manager to maintain an effective risk management and control environment while also enabling this growth. This position, reporting to the General Manager, is the key member of our senior leadership team responsible for the Microsoft Financing portfolio through oversight of our worldwide risk management team and alliance partners.

Key Position Responsibilities:
  • Establish risk management policies, procedures and controls to enable global consistency and scale
  • Develop and implement effective credit and risk acceptance strategies
  • Devise uniform credit processing routines and quality documentation to deliver operating excellence and customer satisfaction
  • Evaluate and structure transactions and credit scoring models to achieve acceptable risk profiles; transactions range from $2,000 to $100 million+
  • Establish global portfolio concentration risk criteria and corresponding borrower and partner risk acceptance criteria
  • Manage portfolio quality and collections activity to ensure Microsoft Financing credit charge-offs are predictable and within targeted levels
  • Deliver new financing offers with credit requirements that effectively manage risk and create competitive advantage for Microsoft
  • Manage alliance partner relationships to drive effective operating routines and adoption of joint risk acceptance criteria
  • Oversee alliance partner risk management criteria and performance to standards/service level agreements
  • Facilitate refinement of risk-adjusted pricing methodologies
  • As we continue our global expansion, participate in new alliance partner selection process; drive their adoption of Microsoft Financing risk management requirements
  • Enable successful fulfillment of our unique software financing value proposition
  • With the senior leadership team, partner in setting business strategy and direction

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven ability to deliver commercially acceptable business policies, procedures and controls that enable growth while achieving risk management objectives
  • 10+ years in a captive finance company or vendor finance environment, preferably in the information technology market
  • Experience leading teams and virtual teams
  • Strong expertise with respect to global lending and risk management practices
  • Excellent communication skills

ENTERPRISE FINANCING EXECUTIVE

Microsoft Financing (MSF), the customer-financing arm of Microsoft Corporation, provides financing to facilitate acquisition of Microsoft products and solutions. We are seeking experienced Enterprise Financing Executives (EFE) to work cooperatively with internal sales teams and partners serving Microsoft’s largest customers.

The EFE is accountable for new business originations through:

  • Achieving loan origination volume of $40M+ annually.
  • Managing relationships with Microsoft field sales, management and licensing teams.
  • Consulting, proposing financing solutions and closing transactions with enterprise clients and partners.
  • Implementation of sales and market penetration strategies.
  • Evangelizing the benefits of offering financing integrated with Microsoft products and services to every customer.
  • Excellent time and territory and pipeline management skills.

These positions, reporting to MSF’s North American Enterprise Sales Manager, will be located in either the 7 state North Central District, preferably Minneapolis, MN, or the Southeastern U.S.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates will have 5+ years in a captive/vendor finance company or bank cross-sell environment, preferably in the information technology market.
  • A proven track record of meeting and exceeding aggressive sales growth objectives.
  • An understanding of software licensing is a plus.

PRICING GROUP MANAGER

To take our business to the next level, we are building a new Pricing organization to oversee our pricing profitability models, strategy, competitive positioning, transaction structuring and policies, procedures and controls.

As our lead hire in this new organization, you will be responsible for driving investigation of key strategic issues/questions around how Microsoft Financing should price its offerings under different circumstances, create recommendations for them and then obtaining executive buy-in to these recommendations. You will also oversee gathering pricing market intelligence, develop our transaction and rate card pricing tools and capabilities and then work with our sales and marketing teams to develop winning proposals.

The scope of this role includes all Microsoft Financing pricing worldwide as we support the Microsoft sales teams’, and our thousands of partners’, efforts to win incremental business through outstanding customer financing offers. As such you will be exposed to a variety of opportunities and challenges as we emerge from a development stage business to a mature and successful captive finance company. A few examples: how do we price our offer for each segment, country and financing product, how does each unique distribution channel influence pricing strategies, how the does sales process impact the price and what customer behaviors do we need to anticipate relative to our pricing?

In addition to the above, other key areas you will be involved in include:

  • Establishing pricing thresholds/hurdles for field teams.
  • Building rate cards for small ticket flow business.
  • Cost analysis by geography, segment, product, etc. to enable proper pricing discipline.
  • Model development.
  • Transaction structuring.
  • Recommending authority levels for pricing decisions.
  • Team training on pricing methodology and tactics.
  • “Deal desk” ownership for large/non-standard transactions and audit routines to ensure policy compliance.
  • In most cases, the successful candidate not only develops the strategy but also takes a lead role in implementation to ensure the strategy is executed and achieved.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong problem structuring and problem solving skills.
  • Very strong communication skills, in particular to senior executives and sales teams.
  • Proven ability to work across organizations to get engagement, build consensus, and drive resolution to challenging problems.
  • Enthusiasm and energy for big challenges.
  • Solid knowledge and experience with transactional and program pricing in a financial institution environment including credit risk and pricing tradeoff optimization.
  • Ability to work with accounting and financial systems to access and analyze key data.
  • Experience with, or strong knowledge of, sales processes and behavior.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Background in driving virtual teams and resolving conflicting plans.
  • Good project management skills.
